Circles of moving, speaking and writing is the result of a meeting with the American artist Simone Forti and of our desire to exchange on our methods and visions of the world in a natural site. Its setting up is accompanied by a reflection on the notions of meeting between artists and of transmission between generations.
Véronique Albert, Marion Bae, Catherine Contour, Christophe Fiat, Simone Forti, Christine Jouve, Laurence Louppe, Sabine Macher, Jean-Paul Thibeau envisage in very different ways the body in its relationships with movement, speaking and writing. Circles welcomes and compares the diversity of their points of view.
Observations:
- circulation between individual activities – or activities carried out by a few people – and other activities common to all participants.
- methods, interviews, invitations, conversations, readings, meals, a birthday, walks, confrontation of perceptions based on documents, articles, films, etc.
- the question of transmission through archive documents and their activation, testimony and the narration of experience.
- the success of the undertaking owes much to the quality and diversity of the spaces of welcome, the mobility of the actors and the acceptance of heterogeneity and misunderstanding.
Another challenge was to federate a number of Grenoble-based institutions around an unforgettable moment with Simone Forti. The immediate adherence to this project of the higher school of art and the Magasin curator school allowed the greatest possible number of people to benefit from the presence of this major artist who lived and spurred on the experimentations of the New York avant-garde movement in the 1960s-70s.
