Fabrique 2/Lyon2004 -Plates-formes d’expérimentation-
(Factory 2/Lyon2004 –Experimentation platforms-)
Laboratory set up by Catherine Contour at the Subsistances, Lyon
3 5-day sessions between January and April 2004 bringing together
9 students from the higher art schools of Grenoble, Lyon and Valence,
3 catalysts: Elodie Carré, Mickaël Phelippeau and Nicolas Sauveton, young artists,
1 witness: Nathalie Viot, curator-critic-author,
2 special guests: Pierre Giner, artist and Philippe Rahm, architect (each for 1 day).
The experimentation is structured around 6 main areas:
- place/heterotopia
- horizontality/movements
- fabrication of a body/identity
- witness/testimony
- welcome
- be together/experiment
Observations :
The platform initially assumed the form of an island.
Island and movements then led us to the boat.
The boat led us to heterotopia and to deterritorialisation.
Le navire, c’est l ‘hétérotopie par excellence (The ship is the heterotopia par excellence) wrote Michel Foucault whose Ecrits (Writings) accompanied Fabrique together with Mille Plateaux (A Thousand Plateaus) by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari.
