Chambre aux multiples étapes m’a tout naturellement conduite au-delà des frontières. Le projet initial était de partir dans les 4 directions pour y élargir ce questionnement sur l’intime chorégraphique à des espaces et des cultures différents.
En 1999, la rencontre de Nathalie Viot et Jérôme Delormas alors directeur de l’Institut franco-japonais du Kansai à Kyoto, m’offre l’opportunité d’engager cette aventure par l’est : le Japon. Un premier séjour à Kyoto me permet de construire le projet japonais en 2 temps :
- une étape de Chambre avec des danseurs-performeurs japponais à l’issue d’une session de travail dans un ryokan (auberge traditionnelle)
- un autoportrait, filmé par Nathalie Viot, témoin, dans un love-hôtel.
